I agree with Peter, things are just buggy, but as you learn to navigate the headset and system quirks it'll become less and less of a problem.
If it's always the same games that have trouble launching, you can try reloading them, or check if windows/steam is asking for permissions in the background that aren't always apparent.
The headset going all white is often a tracking problem and seems to happen a lot with kids in our arcade. They will reach both hands up to adjust the headset, cover all the sensors, and then the headset goes completely white because it no longer has any idea where it is. Generally it comes back up in a few seconds, but the more they do it, the longer the "white" intervals.
