Oculus Quest 3

Anyone know if oculus quest 3 support is coming, especially for tethered connection? Springboard seems to work well with steam connect via wireless, but we haven’t found a good wired solution yet.
Anyone got it to work?

Info513490 Should work the same as connecting a HTC Vive, I would assume, no? I just dontknow if it would wake up to the Springboard UI after timing out due to inactivity.

I miss using the HTC Vive due to that reason. Having a wireless Oculus takes so much more to get up and running for customers. It’s just not as seamless as far as i know

Info513490 I know that Oculus support was announced a couple of years ago. I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Could you give us insight as to why the wired option doesn’t work well for oculus?

how do you guys run the Quest in an arcade all day? does the tether keep it charging?

augmentalitylabs I don’t have it tethered, but I have head straps that allow me to hot swap battery packs each with an hour and a half of charge plus whatever the oculus quest has in battery percentage. Curious how this works tethered though.

I would love to see support for tethered as we’d love to switch to this headset. How do people get wireless to work with a larger number of stations (e.g. we have 18)? In my experience, any more than 2 stations on wireless causes the experience to degrade as they compete for the bandwidth. Anyone have experience with this?

As long as you’re careful about not having 5Ghz frequency channels overstepping their frequency you won’t have any problem.
I’m running 4 or 5 headsets on a single wifi router, currently happy with 12 headsets divided on 3×5Ghz wifi with channels that are clearly divided on the 80 Mhz bandwith

As long as the router wifi is 5Ghz , with a good quality (headsets are 5 meters from the routers) No trouble at all with a 50Mbps video stream in virtual desktop with a stable latency around 35-45ms.

Tested with multiple wifi routers. Cheap huawei or expensive Asus ROG wifi routers. All having the same success and no visible difference (a few more ms in latency sometime with the cheapers models)

I think 18 headsets would be doable depending on your location and if you can install the routers in a “smart/central” position. I did 16 headsets (Oculus Quest 2) with no trouble, 4 wifi routeurs behind a 5 years old basic 1Go RJ45 netgear switch
You just have to be carefull of customers using their phones as hotpots as it can f**k everything up (monitor your place with a wifi analyser on the 5Ghz)

AdminVirtualTime362206 Hi and thanks for sharing. We are also switching to a wireless setup with a mix of Quest 2 on 5 GHz and Quest 3 on 6GHz. Unfortunately, we had to disable a bunch of games since they did not work in the streaming setup. The games are opening in a parallel window and you can hear them in the headset but not see the image. Ragnarock, Superhot, Elven and some others. Did you have similar issues?

geralexandr Superhot and Elven works without any troubles. I think it might be a problem related to Springboard one click titles that I saw in this forum on another post.

Haven’t tried with Oculus 3 and 6Ghz, does it works well ? Is latency the same ?

For Quest 3 and 6 Ghz - we use it in our smaller location with just 4 headsets and it doesn’t seem to make a difference in latency. In our larger location, we plan to use a combo of Quest 2s on 5 Ghz and Quest 3 on 6 Hgz to avoid wi-fi congestion. So far we are only using 5 Ghz part.
