UPDATE ! Some questions on some issues I am having

Hey all,

Today we had our first open test of our gaming stations. Overall it was a great success but there were some hiccups that I thought I would ask about.

First off we installed 17 games on all of our systems. Some required steam keys, most did not. Under my library, I see that the games are installed on each computer and I separately verified that they were. Still there were a few games that refused to launch on some stations but worked fine on others. There isn't a particular title I'm having an issue with just a game here and there that wouldn't launch, via player select or my trying to force the launch through SpringboardVR. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this?

In a second issue, I had one computer that refused to launch Steam VR regardless of what I did, so I completely reinstalled Windows 10 and wiped both my OS and Game drive. I forgot to uninstall the games I had loaded on there through SpringboardVR prior to this step. Now, Springboard is showing that the games are still installed on the computer, despite the fact that the game drive was wiped clean. I have tried to "disable and delete" these games through the My Library console but the games are simply showing as "uninstall pending" . I can't delete the game from Springboard and I can't load the games up on to my computer. What do I have to do to get the games back? Side load them manually?

Final question is that I have noticed some games like "The Lab" are listed as "multiplayer" but really aren't. There are actually a couple of these. Is there a topic or document that has the titles of those games that are actually multiplayer?

For the games that were sparingly not starting, I would first ask about the computer's specs to better understand some potential issues. One of the things I've noticed with games not starting on the first try, or not at all, is related to the game. As in, the more power required to play the game, the higher the chance for hiccups. If after a long day of being played, a computer may be more susceptible to hiccups. Another thing is related to the player. If a player is moving a bunch before loading a game, this could cause a hiccup.

Your second issue is over my pay grade haha; sorry.

I've not encountered issues with multiplayer games not being actually multiplayer.

Congrats on opening! Keep your spirits up; I am 11 weeks into my opening and I am still seeing bizarre happenings with bugs and whatnot. I treat it as though a child has fallen. Rather than stressing out or freaking out, I shrug it off and tell the customer that it is okay, there are other games to play or it is okay, that is just a little bug which will go away.

I had originally thought it might be spec related but all the computers I have are exactly identical to each other. Arizona Sunshine works great on 4 computers but on 2, it just hangs at the loading screen. On another computer, Audio Shield works fine on all the computers but one. There doesn't seem to be a reason that I can find as some titles require a steam key, others do not. All the games work on most of the computers but there are some, as mentioned that just hang at the loading screen, even after full restarts.

I don' t think so. In this case there are some stations that are more open than not. Still it isn't like every game is stalling, only one or two, the other games work. I would think that if there is an issue with reflections, then there would be more games not working. In some cases it is only one game for that machine.

What time of day did this happen? Apparently at 4:30 ish central Steam went kaput.

Maybe internet traffic issue? Is the wifi open to the public, draining on power to your dedicated VR stations?

Yeah yesterday I found that Steam was down. This was today in the morning.

I'm going to go in tomorrow and test each station again to see if it is happening with the same titles on the same machines. If so, I believe it might be a bad install. If not it might be something else like latency or internet issues. Still two days in a row the same few games on the same few machines just refused to launch, while on other machines they were fine. It is very strange.

Was there anything on the desktop prompting for an installation of required updates? I know for a couple of my games in the beginning, it looked like it launched, but when I went out of the headset and checked the computer it was waiting for a DirectX installation that was required for that particular game.

Good luck on your opening, we are still a few months out. I can't ever finish my build out because all the nieces and nephews want to play! :slight_smile:

This is a good idea to check. I can do that tomorrow, there have been some popups asking for access and at the beginning there was some bluetooth updates. I will take a closer look tomorrow.

Update. So we were able to get all the games working on all machines, with the exception of one. The machine I had to reformat and reinstall has been giving us issues. There are 3 games that we have installed like 4 times and uninstalled 3 times to try and get to work and each time the system says, "Installation error corruption. Will repair on idle"

So I have left it there for the night and hope something will happen.

The other games I simply uninstalled the game and reinstalled it through SPringboard and it worked.

I had one act like this to superhot uninstalled its self wiht out permission then reinstalled with an error we had to uninstall and redo it. Randomly it SPVR would no launch anything just started late last week on this one computer

A few hiccups but it seems most are infrequent. A couple times we have to restart SteamVR or Springboard but we'll see starting tonight what is happening.

We have one computer and Beat Saber of all things. Keeps saying corrupt install. I've installed it like 5 times and even deleted the folder and installed it. It is fighting me every step of the way.

our computer in station 2 that we are having trouble with keeps deleting all shortcut files every time we launch springboard... this is getting annoying I feel your pain Rod

Is that workstation using a local account and not saving stuff to OneDrive? I had a similar issue where I forgot to disconnect the cloud drive and MSN account from one workstation.

Such a pain ... I’ve got all mine with a local admin account and they auto login on boot and all cloud “stuff” disconnected. I also installed VNC Server on each one to manage more easily. So stupid you can’t run Remote Desktop (RDP) on the home version of Win 10.
