Making the perfect playing area with tracking

So I'm about to start setting up my play areas. Each area has a 6x6 foam mat with a little over a foot from beyond that mat to the walls. Some stations will be 7 1/2 feet wide, others will be closer to 8 but we still want to make the actual area 6x6 so the chaperon lines will help stop players before they knock my wands into a wall.

Unfortunately I haven't found a real easy way to get a perfectly square playing area. It is always slightly lopsided. I have heard you can instead of drawing the lines by hand, you can click one corner. move to the next corner and pull the trigger and a straight line will be drawn between the two. Am I right that something like this exists? I'd like to get them as close as I can to match my 6x6 foam tiles on the floor.

When you're doing the room setup in SteamVR, click the "advanced" tickbox at the bottom left of the screen. This changes the chaperone definition to the "pick the corner" mode. FWIW, make sure your foam mats are secured in place, because they will migrate around.

Carpet tape is what I used on the bottom of my foam mats, ontop of carpet. I wouldn't be surprised if the tape worked well enough on other surfaces though, just a heads up.

You can get a perfect square by going to SteamVR settings > Developer > Room and Tracking and selecting a preset size from the dropdown box. Put your headset in the center of your play area facing forward on the ground and click 'Quick Calibrate'. Done.

The downside to this is you can't make it the exact size you might want (unless you use chaperone tweak afterward but then it won't be a perfect square), but it's way faster than doing the full room setup.

I tried to find this under the developer area and could not find this option. I'm wondering if I am missing it somewhere??

Oh this might be a good thing. If i can simply pick a 6x6 square that would be the best.

This is a screenshot from an older version of SteamVR (supersampling has since been moved to the video tab), but the Room and Tracking section is still there
