Leaving Equipment on

Hi Guys,

I wondered how many of you out there leave your equipment turned on all the time? The main worry for me is the Headsets and lighthouses I guess as it is unproven how long they last being on for extended periods of time.

Also is Springboard less likely to play up if you set it up and leave it ready?

Thought it would be good to get some of your experiences.

There are reports on reddit from people who have had their lighthouses on 24/7 since they bought them in 2016 so I'd say you're fine with those.

I leave only a couple of my PCs on during quiet days to minimise my power bill. The headsets go into standby mode after a few minutes of inactivity, and Springboard will play idle videos (by default) though that has nothing to do with whether or not it will play up.

At night I turn everything off at the power point on the wall, apart from the security system and the fibre internet ONT box.

Hey Carlos,

That's a great question and I agree with Peter. Most reports say it's fine to leave them running.

From a SpringboardVR perspective you should be fine either way. As an operator, I restarted my computers every morning and kept SpringboardVR on all day.

Hey - here at ccvr we have left the lighthouses on since we opened 5 months ago and shut the pc’s down each night - never a drama the next morning and only do a room setup every month or so - some haven’t had one for a few months - I leave the iPad on with SB for 5 days and turn it off once a week.

Even when you take the machines mobile they set up fine each time.. just be gentle with the base stations and NEVER touch them while turned ones always turn them off at the power point... in blew 3 before I learnt my lesson.

I do know an operator which has to leave their machines on 24/7 as they say they take hours to restart in the morning - I have no idea why that would be ...
