Hi,

Many arcades (at least in France) are using mods for Beat Saber which is not permitted for commercial use and it leads to unfair competition (customer asking for songs seen at other locations). Do you know if Beat Saber team is planning to look at this problem? An option would be to authorize arcade to use some mods.

Are there any other venue that is concerned about that as well?

lots of arcades everywhere don't follow the rules everywhere you go. We have tons of arcades in Canada that dont license any content and just buy whatever they want off steam and they are doing very well since they dont have to follow any rules and arent limited in game selection or mods like we are, and dont have to pay developers anything. I'd like to think that these companies will eventually get caught and have to suffer some consequences but its very unlikely we will ever see that happen. The devs are mostly small studios that dont have the time or resources to chase down hundreds of arcades in countries all around the world. Also, as we have seen with even the big ones like Beat Saber and Vacation simulator, the LBE market is a tiny source of revenue compared to consumer sales, so very low on their priority list.

I certainly understand your frustration when customers come in and ask for the custom songs and we say we arent allowed to offer them and they say "but the other place let us do it" it's hard to justify, and yes we probably lose business as a result. Same with arcades that offer titles like Rick and Morty or John Wick and customers ask us to offer those games as well and we have to tell them we are not allowed to. Just something we have to deal with for the forseable future.

Tell them the other arcades are stealing content, word will get around eventually

Thanks for the answers. I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one to complain about that. I hope devs will tackle this issue one day.
