I used to work in the space of business-oriented displays and projectors and I can't say I would recommend using a projector instead of monitors/tvs because they consume much more power! They will however, provide a bigger picture... It's kind of a trade-off.
If you do want to go the projector-route, heres a few specs to consider:
get a ultra short throw projector, you'll be able to mount it on the wall and you'll avoid shadows from the player
be mindful of the noise (dB) levels of the projector, I've worked in spaces with 4 SMALL projectors side-by -side and it was already pretty loud
Go with LASER! You're going to regret going with a classic lamp as you will need to change the bulb more often. Laser "lamps" are often rated for 15000+ hours, are much more brighter and emit less heat (means less noise from the fans!)
But again, I wouldn't recommend it! A good projector from a reputable brand like Epson or LG is going to cost you pretty much the same price or even cost you more as a tv/monitor.
