We tested this out ourselves not long ago and to be honest I won't be offering it. It did a lot of things really well, the launch system is superb, distribution is super easy and well thought out and is the operator panel, being able to send messages and spectate on people to see where they're up is brilliant. They have a quick and easy tutorial which is aided by having a well thought out control system that utilises either a single button or a 2 button config as you prefer (This can be set per player).
Most options can be set per player allowing a lot of flexibility, it looked good inside (The visuals/graphics) as well but to be honest not what I'd expect from Ubisoft, especially after trying out Space Junkies, I think they could have done a bit better.
The issues I found with it were a lot of little things that added up. First and foremost it is branded as an "Escape Room" I'd be scared to advertise it as that here in my town as we have a lot of Escape Rooms and a lot of enthusiasts who keep an eye out for them, they would find it to be extremely easy, the two test groups I put through are VR Vets but never done Escape Rooms before and blew through it in about 23-25mins so they would find it extremely underwhelming it that regard.
Gameplay was reasonably well thought out but there were a few bugs, for example the first puzzle requires some twisting and it just didn't work properly in the game, when people twisted their hands it just glitched a lot. Peoples Avatars would disappear a lot which was very jarring as well and definitely took away from the immersiveness. As mentioned I felt the Graphics and Visuals could have been polished a lot more considering who it was from.
The Assassins Creed side of it I found to be a let down, I'm a big fan of AC myself and have played a bunch of the games so was very hyped to begin but this definitely didn't really feel like AC, it felt like an "Egyptian Themed" game, you enter the Animus at the start, see a piece of Eden at the end and that's really all the AC stuff you get, there really should have been more.
Overall I gave it a 3/5 which just isn't high enough for the price for me to warrant the effort, along with them wanting it offered as a "Premium" experience with a lot of pushing it and needing to be done seperately.
Now don't take this all as doom and gloom, it definitely has its place, if I was doing more remote/external events this would probably be a big offering for me as it's extremely simple on the user side and operator side, so to take to an Event and have people enter quickly and easily I think would be massive and especially for first time users and people who haven't done Escape Rooms before it would be an excellent taste of VR.
Personally I look forward to seeing what experience they come up with next and hopefully it's something a bit less glitchy, a bit more difficult and includes more of the AC elements that I've grown to love!!
