Hey everyone, I’ve noticed a recent trend of game devs releasing previously arcade only titles onto Steam for home consumer use. (Burning Descent, Tower Tag, Arvi Escape rooms etc.) I know their profits dried up when we all shut down, so they are trying to make a living any way they can so I don’t blame them. My concern is that with more and more people owning headsets we are seeing a trend of losing one of the main draws for arcades: the exclusive content.
On the flip side of that of course, we could see arcades using previously inaccessible premium content like Tower Tag without securing commercial licensing from the developer by just purchasing on Steam. Any thoughts on how this is going to impact us when we re-open? I’m looking at how the Trolls movie going straight to VOD shook the movie theatres and wondering if that is comparable to our situation or not.
