HTC to discontinue the Vive Pro

Apparently HTC is discontinuing the Vive Pro, to be replaced by the even more expensive Vive Pro Eye for commercial use. I think a lot of arcades will be jumping ship to from HTC to Oculus soon.

But if you have a Vive Pro already, your arcade will be fine using Springboard right? Replacing an arcades worth of pro headsets would be not fun.

GGVR Yes you will be fine for now… until you need replacement parts as things start to break over time, or if you want to expand with more headsets in the future

This pretty much sucks. Guess I gotta stock up on Vive pro parts cause switching a whole arcade to a new platform is going to be very expensive. I’m not a big fan of Oculus but I’m a big worried bout the OLED displays. I’m going to HOPE that VIVE has done enough testing with their new equipment that they have made significant progress with their new headsets with OLEDs that might erase some of the previous problems.

Yeah, that does suck. I sure as Hell will not switch to using Oculus. I love my Index and if there were just a few things different with it I would have upgraded my entire arcade to it. So when this happens I’ll probably make the switch and bite the bullet on the things I was hoping would be fixed in their 1.5 version. The biggest issue is just the smaller entry point of the headset and glasses wearers can’t fit them like they can fit into the Vive Pro HMD.
